What is Valet Park?

Valet Park is actually a new generation of automated parking systems that, by combining artificial intelligence, machine vision, and multiple sensors, allows parking without a driver. The driver simply stops the car at the entrance to the parking lot, and by pressing a button or using a special BYD application, the system automatically recognizes the route and parks the car in the appropriate place.

This technology is part of BYD’s intelligent driving ecosystem, which is a subset of the more advanced God’s Eye technology; The same system that is also used for autonomous driving on highways and in the city.

How the system works

VoltPark uses a combination of multiple cameras, millimeter wave radar, ultrasonic sensors and, in more advanced versions, a LiDAR sensor to understand the surrounding environment.

The system works as follows:

Scanning the parking area
Cameras and radars identify the parking space, obstacles, walls and empty lanes.
AI analysis and decision-making
The system calculates the shortest and safest route to park with BYD’s proprietary algorithms.
Autonomous movement and precise maneuvering
The vehicle moves independently, adjusts the steering, and can complete the parking even on narrow and winding roads.
Final confirmation and automatic locking
After the process is complete, the vehicle is automatically placed in park mode, the parking brake is activated and the doors are locked. The driver can view the status via the app.
Difference between Voltpark and regular automated parking

Regular automated parking systems are activated only when the driver is inside the car and must perform gear, brake, and final confirmation. But BYD Voltpark goes one step further.

No need for the driver to be present: The car can be controlled independently from the outside.
Ability to learn repetitive situations: The system can remember regular parking locations (for example, home or work parking).
Ability to call the car remotely: By pressing an option in the application, the car automatically moves from the parking lot to the driver.
Support for multi-storey scenarios: It is also able to identify the route in multi-storey parking lots and park on the right floor.

The car can also be stopped in an emergency at any time; either from inside the cabin or via the driver’s mobile phone.
